Coach's Corner
Late July 2008
Crewsers,
Good work so far in all aspects of the sport. We've got a great membership which is steering us in the right direction. Kudos at the first and biggest in-state race this year. Some of the highlights include placing second out of seven crews, winning the mixed 8+ event in a six-boat race, and having a great novice showing. These are just some signs of a healthy and strong team. Lets build and gain experience from these performances.
After racing, rest, and recuperation it's time to have our eyes on future events and the work ahead. Head of the Kenai (Saturday, September 6th) is next on the agenda and is a more friendly distance of 5k and still requires good, hard, consistent rowing. While the HOTK is a race of the big boats (8+, 4x) let's spend time early and often in the small boats to work on development. We are going to build the aerobic base and drive-home the drills we've all learned.
Great,
Rudy
